Microsoft's Misleading Incentive

"Microsoft also confirmed that Xbox Live Gold memberships would carry over to the Xbox One, as well as a new program starting July 1 where Xbox Live Gold members will get two free game downloads each month until the release of the Xbox One. The first two games announced for the program are Assassin's Creed 2 and Halo 3."

I had the strong impression it was a "from now on" thing. As in they were going to directly compete with PSN+ in that very same aspect.

Yeah, no, they did quite clearly say in the press conference that they were only offering 2 free games a month until the release of the One.

Hurray. They're giving gold members 2 copies of games they'll most likely have owned for years free of charge for a limited time only.

 

My gold membership is feeling so much more worthwhile now. =/

Yeah, I was thinking just that. Other than Fable, I already have long-owned the other two games their offering. Would've been nice to get something a bit more recent.
