Steam In home streaming

Go to solution Solved by FloRolf,

and that depend on the cable itself or the router !?

cable is usually not the bottlneck. it depends on router, streaming pc and laptop.

BUT i have some personal experience, i streamed Portal 2 over wifi to my moms *uber crappy* notebook and it worked as long as no one else used the connection. Should work fine if you have a newer setup.

So I want to stream my games from my PC to my TV and I want to know if ..

The streaming speed depend on the Internet speed or the connection speed

By internet speed I meant The speed which I download with 250 KB/Sec or whatever

or Connection speed (whether I'm connecting my PC and the streaming device via WIFI or LAN Cable  )

you can't stream to your TV* if your pc doesnt have a computer attatched or is connected with an hdmi cable to the normal pc.

But it would depend on the "connection speed"

The host and client computer should both be connected via wire to a router/switch for minimal latency. This will depend on the device and ethernet cables you are connecting to/with (1Gbps/100Mbps/10Mbps)

If you aren't talking about using a client computer and instead just talking about using you tv as a direct peripheral of your main PC, then connection speed will not matter.

317 is watching. 317 is everywhere. 317 is life.

Both

Cat5 cable is limited to 100 ( you can see the category written on the cable ) , cat 5e and 6 or more supports it

If on the router box or router itself it's written 10/100/1000 or "gigabit" , it supports 1000

Well, obviously you would need to have a comptuer hooked up to the TV, but it would depend on the speed between computers in your network. For example, my grandma's internet is about 1/.3 (yes, it sucks), but the speeds I get downloading a file from her computer using HFS (even though I'm on a different router) comes out to roughly 72/72.
