Ok, the motherboard in question is the Asrock z97 extreme 6...

According to Asrocks website...

2 x CPU Fan Connectors (1 x 4-pin, 1 x 3-pin)
3 x Chassis Fan Connectors (1 x 4-pin, 2 x 3-pin)
1 x Power Fan Connector (3-pin)

According to Anand Tech ( with pictures of the mobo )...

2 x CPU (4-pin, 3-pin)
3 x CHA (3-pin)
1 x PWR (3-pin)

So, I'm inclined to trust Anand Tech and the picture of the mobo....

But both the cpu fan headers are supposed to be run off the same profile, and thats where i get confused

I have 3 case fans that i can run off a controller just fine, so thats not an issue.

But I will be installing a Corsair H105

So if i run the pump off the 3 pin cpu heaqder and the rads fan splitter off the 4 pin, will i be able to keep the pump constant and the rad fans adjustable???

Or should I just run the rads fans off the 4 pin cpu header and the pump off of any of the other random 3 pin headers?

You can use 3-pin connectors in 4-pin. Without a problem. And you can change speeds if you have good fans.

I am aware of that, but that has nothing to do with my question.  Thank you for responding though.

As I currently run an h100i and cant adjust pump speed what so ever, I would run the fans on the cpu header and pump off anything else. If the mobo is any good and you can get decent software, you should be fine.

My temps are fine with not being able to adjust speed, pump is at a constant 2200 rpm.

yeah thats what i'm gonna do, see i had a mobo with all 4 pin headers and it was easy to set up, but with this new board that i ordered, with 2 headers off one profile and the rest (supposedly) all 3 pins, it threw me for a loop.
