Hello all.

I'm looking to buy parts to build a PC here in the next few days and I figure some of you guys could look over my build and see if it's good enough. My budget is about $2k, and I took quite a bit of inspiration from one of Linus's videos. I plan on gaming (obviously), video recording (possibly fairly long sessions), and video editing, along with the college work that an accounting student would have which I'm sure isn't very intensive to run, hah.

One question I have is that, since I don't plan on overclocking my CPU at this point in time or in the near future, should I purchase an extra CPU cooler?

Here's the link to the build:

If there's anything anyone feels that could be added/subtracted to make this build better, while staying around my budget, feel free to throw out some suggestions.

Thanks a lot to anyone providing some insight/advice! :)

Oh, and on a side note, what mechanical keyboard would any of you suggest? I'd prefer a backlit one, if at all possible.

EDIT: Also, do you guys think the 480 GB SSD is too much for what I would use it for if I've got a 3TB HDD? I see a lot of people on the internet saying the only thing you really need the SSD for is to put your operating system on, so should I get a smaller SSD and put the extra money towards something else, perhaps?

Looks good, I would personally recommend the ducky shine 3 if you want a backlit keyboard :)

intel's included cooler is pretty good but people don't like it but it just looks crap. But I would recommend getting a decent cpu cooler just because if you ever feel the need to dabble in it you have the freedom to and if not you would have a very frosty cpu which would increase the longevity of your chip

Z97 A instead of 87, go with a EVGA Supernova G2 750W PSU.

Everything else is pretty much ok.

Get at least a cooler master hyper 212 cpu cooler.

You may also want to look at the ASRock Extreme 4 motherboard it's just as good.

Intel Inside. Overweight guy in his 30's outside.

What exactly is the difference in those two motherboards, as in the Z97 and Z87? I can't quite find anywhere on the internet that gives a definitive reason as to why I should get the 97 over the 87.

What cooler would you suggest? Would the Cooler Master Nepton 280L be good?

Z97 is the newer chipset. You always buy the newer chipset. Period. No further explanation is required.

Yeah, I decided I'll go with the Z97-A. :D

Thanks.

You're welcome. I was in a bad mood but Z97 gives you broadwell compatibility, M.2, Sata express... it's the bees knees and its the same price.
