You dont need to make a new topic for every motherboard that you see and like. Yes that motherboard is a lot better than the Asrock you were previously looking at

Close, but you're going to want the UD3P version if you have an 8-core FX CPU or want to overclock. The better VRMs are hugely important for that.

No its the D3P you asked, not UD3P

The VRM on the one you asked is only good for the overclocking a 6 core

nope thats the "DS3P" version

I have that board and a FX-6300 going to do a slight OC on it soon(without cranking up the voltage)

Go for the 990FX-UD3 if you plan to overclock

The reason why im not going to crank up the voltage is that my board(970A-DS3P) has a poor Powerphase design.

you can go for the UD3P version of that board or get a Gigabyte 990FX-UD3 instead

Go for the Asus M5A97 R2.0 at least... I'd recommend a 990x motherboard with better phases. For such as 6+2 and 8+2

The asus M5A97 is 4+2, but many people on the forums recommends it. I personally had it myself, not bad, i regret not getting a 990fx though

Edit: if your getting a 970 motherboard at least get the Gigabyte 970A-Ud3p as it has a 8+2 phase

AND ALSO, IT HAS TO BE ON http://www.pccasegear.com.au

do you plan to overclock? If not go for the ASrock 990FX Extreme 3( 4+1 power phase and a 990FX chipset, I guess you could also go for a small overclock)

If yes go to ASUS M5A97 R2.0

If you go for aesthetics go for the MSI 970 ( I think that it also overclocks well)

Ive been doing research on the MSI motherboard i listed before and from what ive heard all MSI motherboards are capable of a small overclock. Also this motherboards colour scheme is amazing and i really love the way the bios is set out.

Thanks

The MSi 970 Gaming motherboard is a good board. This board was launched earlier this year (summer of 2014).

  • Heatsink-cooled 8+2 power phase
  • Re-arranged PCI-E bandwidth configuration to allow PCI-E x8 + x8 slots for dual graphics cards (the 970 chipset is usually x16 + x4)
  • It has most (not all) of the features found on premium boards at a reasonable price
