5.1 surround sound help

So I'm a real noob to sound and speakers. I'm looking at getting a cheap pair of logitech 5.1 speakers and I have a few questions.

1: what sort of cables will there be?

2: will i need a sound card? I know they're cheap speakers and will sound bad either way, but how do i make the best out of something bad. i dont think i board has the black, red, blue etc inputs

3: is there a set up i should follow? like two speakers behind and two in front?

If your motherboard has three or more audio ports in the IO, you will be fine. You will require another 2 3.5mm audio cables to connect it up. I own these speakers and they are brilliant for their price. I cant remember if mine came with a 3.5mm audio cable so to be on the safe side, maybe buy another one, you can never have enough 3.5mm jacks.

You can still use the speakers, Just you wont have the full surround sound effect. All you do is plug in the single audio jack and you'll be fine. But personally I havent used all three jacks on my speakers and I still get half surround out of it.
