Motherboard help

I'm switching from IPMMB-FM (Formosa) to a msi Z97 gaming 7 board. I'm running 8.1 I'm thinking that a fresh install of Windows would be best. Any thoughts?

A clean install of Windows is always a good idea, don't forget to back up important data!

fresh install of windows is best when switching boards if you feel comfortable doing so. reactivation will require a call to microsoft(afaik it will tell you the number to call) if you are using an system builderlicense.

A fresh install of Windows is a great idea. However, remember to backup your important files. Also, get a SSD if you have extra money.

Yeah I just got 2 intel 730 480 for the reliability and good performance. I just did a large upgrade. Msi twin froza R9-290,msi z97 gaming 7 mobo,i5-4690k,2 intel 730 ssd,2tb hdd black,kingston hyperx fury 16 memory, corsair ax860i psu,corsair h100i and a corsair c 70 case. Hopefully it will turn out OK
