Software for ripping Blu-Ray's?

Go to solution Solved by dfsdfgfkjsefoiqzemnd,

MakeMKV does the job for me. It's currently still in beta (no worries, it works perfectly fine), so you can use it for free with regularly updated keys.

The moment you crack DRM (Digital Rights Managemnt) to rip the DVD, you've violated Title I of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. 17 U.S.C. 1201 prohibits circumvention of DRM.

Mhm.

If you use the rip for personal use its fine, it's only illegal when you start selling them.

No, it's still illegal once you break the DRM. See, it's kind of nice having a family member who's a cop.

I'm pretty sure I'm right when talking about the UK could be wrong though.

I don't know anything about us law.

That's not really how this forum works, we don't use UK law. we comply with the laws of canada and the US. Breaking DRM is illegal in both countries, wether it's for home use or not.

This forum isn't governed by any laws. When looking for advice you need to refer to the laws in your own country.

You are also also assuming that the software is being used on Blu-Rays that contain DRM. He may have a couple of Blu-Rays filled with DRM free information that he wished to rip to another Blu-Ray. Unlikely but you still cannot assume that it is intended for illegal use.

This is the stance I'm taking on this topic. I have removed all potentially offensive and derailing material from this topic.

Stick to the Code of Conduct when you have a dispute or you will find yourself with a temp ban.
