One of my good friends is going off to college and needs help getting a laptop. They want to spend 400 to 600 (less is better). I really want them to have an SSD ( because they probably going to be alittle rough on it but they dont need that much drive space) and they really want Windows 7 over Windows 8. I can switch out the old hard drive myself if needed.

Thank guys

P.S. Haswell wouldn't hurt for the battery life.

for that price point its tough to get an ssd, if your in canada and have a memory express anywhere near you they have one built by acer for a fantastic deal though http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX44926

otherwise something like the fallowing could be good if you change it to an ssd yourself
