Hey LTT, hopefully someone here will be able to help me out with this.

Last week, I made the switch from iOS to Android after watching Linus' videos. I got myself a shiny new HTC One and am loving it... except for one thing. All my friends have iPhones, and we often used iMessage to send pictures to each other. I don't have picture messaging on my plan (and don't plan on adding it), so it's too expensive to continue using MMS messaging.

I'm wondering if any of you know of an app that will let me take a picture, upload that picture, create a shortlink to it (i.e. bit.ly or tinyurl), and copy that link so I can send it in a text.

I know that DropBox has auto-uploading of photos, but that requires that all pictures be uploaded, and I don't want that. What I want is an app that has a camera built-in, so I can selectively choose which pictures get uploaded by only using that app to take pictures with when I want to upload.

Essentially, I want something like Jing for Windows, but for Android. Any ideas?

I appreciate it!

Imgur has an app that lets you do that, I think. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.imgur.mobile&hl=en

Instagram is another option, you can disable the FB upload (afaik).

Sorry I can't help exactly, but as said before, what's wrong with Whatsapp? Or really any other thing (Viber, Google Hangouts etc.)? I know iMessage is more convenient since it's built right into the SMS app, but if all of your friends converted to a cross-platform service, then you'd all be free to use what ever OS you choose.
