psu voltage fluctuations?

Go to solution Solved by Archangel1994,

When it idles it lowers voltage to 0.8V to decrease heat, power draw and frequency for environmental purposes

When it has a light load the voltage goes to about 1.1-1.2V for a balance between power draw, heat and frequency

When it has a heavy enough load the voltage goes to 1.4V to be able to be easily stable on the maximum frequency

It's just a power saving/heat saving feature

Hello all

Just looking for some information here about a possible problem. I say possible because I'm not sure if it actually is aha. Recently I installed hwinfo in order to learn what type of ram I had because I didn't know(besides the point). As I was looking at hwinfo I noticed that my gpu voltage seems to be jumping constantly from like .8 to 1.4. This info gathered from the gpu status VID column on hwinfo. So I was wondering is this normal or is it some system instability? I have a a10-6700 amu attached to a newly purchased f2a85v-pro motherboard. I have made no attempts to overclock. I have dabbled with the bios settings tho. Any help is appreciated!

Sorry I meant cpu voltage!!!

You can edit your post by pressing the button(more like a link) at the bottom right of your post.

But OT: This is normal. This is either Cool n Quiet or C1E just doing its job. When your computer is at idle or has a little load it will underclock and drop voltages to keep temperatures down and lower power consumption.
