Hi Guys,

I am thinking of making the purchase of a XFX R9 290X DD Black Edition, and i need to know if my system will bottleneck it of cause any issues? My main concern is if my psu will cope and if my CPU will bottle neck the card.

Here are my system specs:

AMD FX-4170 4.4ghz OC

8gb zepplin RAM 1400mhz

Sapphire R9 270x OC

Asus m5a97 LE R2.0

Corsair RM650

Zalaman Z3 plus

My case is not the best so have a NZXT H440 on the way at the moment! My system uses about 300W max at the moment so wondering if the 650w PSU will be ok?

My CPU is very strong as it was a cherry picked special edition and is a great overclocker had it at 4.8ghz on air!

Cheers,

Samsterstorm  :D

If could, but the CPU will bottleneck the system depending on the application.

And really, what you need for that system is a new CPU, not GPU.

You already have a 270X.

Also, your PSU is overkill.

I'd say upgrade your CPU first and then worry about the GPU. ;)

Cheers guys! Was going to go for a new GPU cause i heard that the 6 and 8 cores don't get me much more in terms of FPS which is what i am after. do you guys have any experience with the 6 and 8 cores? My 4170 is probably a very good one from the silicon lottery and don't want to spend £150 on a CPU only to get worse overclocking!

I am going to do a new CPU but i am waiting for the next FX lineup to come out so was gunna get GPU first then MB and CPU?

What you guys think?
