FX-6300 Overclock

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

I haven't brought the parts yet.

I'm just planning for the build.

So its fine if i need to change the build

then this would be a much better build, if you consider the fact that you don't need to factor in the price of the hyper 212 cooler for this one it should not cost you that much more yet it offers much better gaming performance:

The intel kit is well worth 9$ more...

I'm getting the AMD FX-6300.

I'm also getting the Hyper 212 Evo.

I want to know what is the overclocks i can get on the 6300?

Also what is the safe temperatures for the 6300?

I'm new to overclocking so what is a good guide for overclocking?

Here's my build if you need it:

overclocking on the MSI 970A-G43 is really not recommended...this board is as acheap as it get's the VRM on it are very cheap and not heat-sinked, i wouldn't even run an Fx-6300 on it at stock to be honest.

A quick google search will confirm this motherboard (and the G45 and G46 as well) have the highest VRM's failure of all the socket 970 motherboard, it's not a good one.

...and if it fails chances are it will take down your CPU as well.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

Which one would you recommend from this list?

it's not worth replacing your motherboard for a couple hundred's megahertz mate ;) just keep your cpu at stock and forget about it.

it will not perform as good as an haswell core i5 regardless of the clock speed you'll be able to reach...you would have to push it in the 6ghz area to match a locked i5 like that in games...a quick google search will confirm this, amd architecture is old and ineficient and the cores are much weaker and they are not even full cores the 6300 is in fact a 3 module CPU and by intel's standard it would be a triple core CPU...anyways...i.m, just saying: do your research before you commit into this i had to upgrade from my 4.6ghz FX-8320 about 4 months ago because i was not happy with the performance in games and how the CPU was bottlenecking my GPU.
