Hi,

as I'm planning to buy a new computer, I will give the old one to my roommate.

I would like to change mobo, cpu and cpu cooler. What cpu and mobo do you recommend that would be adequate for GPU HD6850 (I mean mobo/cpu with price / performance adequate for that GPU = not too expensive, not too weak). I was thinking about some FX-6100 (not sure if it's too much for that or not).

Current cpu is AMD Phenom II X4 945, Mobo is probably some MSi 760G (I can check when i get home if it's necessary). It's a bit old (aprox 5y) maybe just replace the stock cooler on CPU (it's noisy as helicopter).

What do you suggest :)

i'm not sure i understand...the X4 945 is a good match for a hd6850 why you wan't to change it if you don't plan a gpu upgrade?

If you don't plan a GPU upgrade soon i would suggest that CPU cooler to replace the stock shit (make sure it fit in your case: http://www.alzashop.com/cooler-master-hyper-212-evo-d281310.htm)

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

That's what I wanted to hear :P

If it's good match then I won't change it, but I'm not sure how long it will live (it has about 5years)

It's mostly for gaming (not the newest game ofc. at least can play BF4 at 40FPS :D)

She currently has only notebook, although it's not so old ntb, it's still less powerful than the old desktop.

So probably just replace CPU cooler (and maybe add a front and back fan, yea i don't have them :D)
