Hi guys,

Could you guys help me design a new PC. I am planning to keep my 1.5Tb hard drive and my i5 CPU. Everything else I want to change. My budget is around £250 or around $400. I know it's not a lot but could you guys recommend a motherboard, RAM, GPU and PSU for that price range. For the case I will probably go for the fractal design Arc Mini R2 and I will be using a triple monitor setup too. Quick question, if I'm using the same HDD will I be able to just put this all together and switch it on without messing about with the OS, would it be that easy?

Thanks guys!

What is your CPU? Model number?

Do you need OS in that price too?

You won't be able to use the same OS b/c you're switching motherboards. So... yeah...

as far as i know re-using the os on your current storage inst a problem.

there was a thread somewhere with rigs from 150-6k somewhere around here..................

could go mid level and just remove the cost of the cpu and storage.......

can someone find me that thread?

CPU is the i5 - 2320, LGA1155. Will probably need a new CPU cooler. Still confused about the OS though, others are saying it will work, thanks again for the help!

I changed my mobo recently and had/have no problems with windows about my license so probably wont be a problem.

Could you literally just switch it on and start running it no problem?

Nope won't be that easy you have to reinstall it but they talked about the license not working and for me it did still work for the new Mobo. it wil BSOD if you start it with the new MoBo which is logical as the drivers are fucked.

First of all even though windows on g2a is cheap i dont recommend it as I heard from multiple people that they had problems after a year. Second of all after installing al components you start it up, if this is going correctly and you see the bios flash by then restart, now smash del or a f# key this is different per mobo and you will get in the bios there you change the boot option to the dvd drive, if you install it from the disk, also insert the disk now. Then find the option to let it save and restart after that. When it restarts you should get the windows installation. One thing if the drives are totally clean and you start up with the disk some mobos might boot from disk by itself. I dont know how it works with a USB.

Edit: found it out same as with a CD just change the boot device to USB also here is a way to make a USB with windows install correctly http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/
