  1. What about resetting the OS. I would loose all my drivers but that's not as bad a losing everything, would that work?
  2. I uninstalled it soon after getting the issue and I am still having the same problem.
  3. Definitely Shut Down, done it many times now. I once left it a few hours and it never shut down also.
  4. I recently bought and installed a new Samsung 850 Evo SSD. Everything was running amazingly well until I downloaded Samsung Magician to optimize the SSD. My system will now longer shut down and there is no way to reverse the optimization. Also, for whatever reason System Restore was turned off so I don't have anything to go back to. I contacted Samsung and they told me to just do a secure erase which I really don't want to do. I asked them if I had any other options and they were just not interested. When I power down my system the message comes up for my system shutting down then my monitors go to sleep, but all the fans and HDD's are still running. Now the only option I have is to hold down the power button which I fear is doing damage to my system. I'm running Windows 10 (64-bit). Is there anything I can try to fix this issue or will I have to do a secure erase? What about resetting Windows to factory settings and keeping my data? Thanks!
  5. Okay so WD were great and sent me a new hard drive and picked up the broken one. Everything is now working, thank you so much everyone!
  6. Okay so I ran the test and it did fail. I also tested with different SATA cables and ports and it was still failing. So, for the return, I would normally just return the part to whoever I bought it from on Amazon. But would it make a difference if I contacted WD support? Thank you so much for your help by the way!
  7. Alright by the sounds of it I will need to send it back, just want to clarify that and make sure I'm not doing anything wrong before sending it back. Question though, with my entire system running off the SSD, why is it so slow when the HDD is plugged in?
  8. I have all my files stored on an SSD so I recently bought a WD Green to keep all my mass storage files. I installed the HDD easily then went to device manager, and tried to create a new simple volume. I went through all the options then clicked create, I then sat there for about 5 minutes while my computer did nothing but load, then eventually an error came up just saying it had failed. So I decided to restart my computer, on the logging off screen I sat there for about 10 minutes before I had to just hold down the power button. I then turned my PC back on where I sat at the Windows loading screen for about 15 minutes. Again I had to give up and hold down the power button. I unplugged the new HDD then turn back on my computer with only the SSD and my system booted in seconds as expected. So I reinstalled the HDD, went to create a new simple volume again and then I got this terrible screaming and scratching noise from the new HDD, then again it came up with an error. Is this a bad hard drive? I have attached a screen shot below. Also, can anyone explain the unallocated space in the screen shot? Thank you so much! Grant
  9. Hahaha, it's alright, I compleatley fucked my HDD, I had to clone the SSD back to the HDD then do a system recovery. Now back to square one lol! Got all my data though.
