Upgrade advice

I am looking for some advice, cause I want to upgrade my ram I am currently running 32GB 1866 Patriot Black Mamba Edition quad channel kit. What kind of ram should I upgrade to my mobo can only take 1866MHz DDR3, nothing higher.

what in the hell do you do with your computer? 32gb is overkill for gaming. 8gb is fine. 1866 is a good frequency. what cas latency?

Hello my friend, I also use my pc for AutoCad on creating Homes and buildings when I am on projects and I need the extra power. I also do a lot of video editing. Currently CL 11.

that is valuable information that should've been in your original post. also more information on your computer's pedigree would be really helpfull to identify what needs to be upgraded. 

you mention your mobo only support 32gb. maybe change that (and the cpu) and get another 32gb of ram. #justmy2cent

CPU: FX8350 @ 5.0GHz

Cooler: Thermaltake Ultimate 3.0 Push/Pull Configuration

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Gen 3

RAM: Patriot Viper 3 Series, 1866MHz Black Mamba Edition DDR3 32GB - 10-11-10-30

HDD: 2x 1TB Samsung 840 evo SSD Raid 0, 4TB SSHD, 1TB WD Raptor(games), 2 x 2TB HDD WD Black

Video Card: 3x XFX Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition

PSU: Corsair HX1000i  

Case: Corsair 800D

OS: Windows 8.1 x64

that is a pretty solid build, imo.

 

depending on your budget you could switch to intel's new X99 chip(new mobo and cpu) and a 64gb of ddr4 ram, chaching ma frend.

 

i dont think you would really see the difference if you would just change your ram to a lower CAS latency.

 

or/and get 2 gtx 970/980 in sli

 

so yeah, what's your budget hom's?

I was actually thinking of that, my budget right now is only 1000.00. I built this as a future proof build for gaming and work.
