ok, my friend has a powercolor 7870 but he wants to cross fire, could he crossfire with a r9 series card since its just a rebrand of the old stuf. If so Witch one?

R7-265 should work, R9-270 Will work, R9-270X will work.

Any Pitcairn chip should work:
7870,7850,270,270X

 

7870 Boost (7870 XT) will not work because it is a Tahiti XT chip.

 

With AMD it is pretty easy, just look for the chip used in the card. If they are the same, numbers don't matter. ;-)
