I posted a similar topic a couple days ago, but got really garbled results and want to get a more clear answer.

What 970 aftermarket is the best?

Asus Strix 970:

Solid overclockability

Quietest

Best Looking (IMO)

MSI:

Big fans

....

G1:

Best Cooling

Fastest out of box clock speeds

Best Backplate

Blue LED (This is the only thing keeping me from getting the G1.  My case is all black and red, and it would look terrible)

Who has gotten one and has positive info to share on it?

I used my old EVGA GTX285 with its thermal limiters off to cook an egg once.  ONCE.

All of them are good, G1 is the best performing. You could just go for the one you like the look of the most, none of them are a bad choice.

I know I know I'm just worried that I'll regret not splurging for the extra 100 or so mhz.....it's just THAT LED WOULD ANNOY ME SO MUCH.  GIGABYTE WHY U NO RGB.

Also the G1 has the best I/O.  I only have two DVI monitors, but I may upgrade later....

I have 2-way sli GTX 970 STRIX and have been using it for about 3 weeks. They are very quite and no coil whine on either card. The temperatures are pretty good too. Single card temperatures was 69 degrees Celsius max while gaming the regular triple A titles. Dual card 73 degrees max on the master card and 65 degrees max on the slave card. My experience has been very good with the STRIX version of the 970s

Go for the g1 all the way.. I have 2 g1's and have been able to clock them up to 1550mhz with only messing with the power target. Best price to performance by far and i have actually been able to outperform 2 reference 980's in some benchmarks.. If you hate the blue light so much then you can mod it, i plan on just taking some light sand paper and polishing the blue off the led to match my white theme.
