So I am upgrading to an Intel platform for the first time ever ... "Long time AMD User here" and I have a predicament as follows ... Go with an ultra basic cheap motherboard with i5 4690K and upgrade the motherboard later on or put up with shitty frame times and go with a Pentium G3258 with a really nice mobo and upgrade the CPU later ?

Kind of need/want Wi-Fi though.

Get a usb card, they're dirt cheap. I'd just go for a reasonably priced/basic/well reviewed mobo and go for the i5. However even though the 7850 isn't that powerful, it's likely the pentium will get bottlenecked in some games.

The CPU or GPU will get Bottelnecked ? Doesn't matter as they are just place holders. Soon it will be all high end ... Just need something decent in the meantime.

The Pentium will be too slow to process the things it needs to process along with the GPU.

will be just fine. The link is to a refurbished item but i believe any z87 board will be perfect. As it supports overclocking for your 4690k.

7850

As others have stated, just get an adapter. Even a PCIe card is cheap, around $10 and they usually perform the same if not better than a card built into the motherboard.
