so I'm a associate in a company who is an associate owned company as only associates can purchase stock. I own several shares of this company so I'm a share holder. Now the debate on my side is that share holders are part owner of the company as they own a share of the stock even 1 share makes a part owner of the company regardless if you have a voice or not. My friends claim that even though I am a share holder I do not own any part of the company and only own the amount i put into the stock. Which is correct?

confusing paragraph. But shareholders aren't owners, they're shareholders. They might part 'own' the company, but it's up to the owners of the company.
