Is there a hard-core graphics card that can not only handle games at high settings at 30+ fps, but also has a reputation of low power consumption?

U should be more specific... Pretty much any gpu can handle games at 30+fps, we arent talking of consoles, but the budget? Resolution?

Maxwell in general.

But i dont think its very important if you live in US anyway... electricity costs arent that big. You will have to use it cuple years to show any benefit and by then you will allready buy more powerful power efficient card.

750 ti...

Thing is so goddamn efficient it makes your power bills go down. Don't question how, it just does.

There have been many wars that have rocked the face of Earth, Many have heard of WWI, WWII, The Cold War, The Vietnam War and the Iraq War. But there has been a war that only a handful of humans know.....AMD vs Intel. It all started in 1985 when Intel released the first 32bit processor, the Intel 386. This war has been raging on for decades and Intel and AMD are still at each others throats. Fanboys have been ruthlessly killed, motherboards have been short circuited and most gruesome of all... CPU pins have been bent. Stop this war before it is too late. #STOPTHISWAR

Most efficient, abdass graphics card

A 285 isn't even close to the efficiency of Maxwell

  • 4 months later...

Is there a hard-core graphics card that can not only handle games at high settings at 50+ fps, but also has a reputation of low power consumption? in at least 1600 x 900? How about 1080p? in nothing higher than $120

Sorry about the huge edit. I didn't know much about gaming back then.

i don't really use AA anyway

If you're looking at power consumption as something absolutely critical then the GTX 750 Ti might be another option.

The R7 265 sucks about 30% more power in worst case scenarios. Although both of them aren't that power hungry to begin with.

Total system power consumption (FurMark)

  • R7 265 = 235 watts
  • 750 Ti  = 180 watts

The R7 265 consumes a bit more power but is ultimately faster and cheaper.

Speaking of power consumption, does AMD have "switchable graphics" like Intel only for their APU and discrete graphics cards?

I don't see the benefit of GPU switching on a desktop. Your discrete GPU is not going to chew up power while idle or even at half load compared to a full load. Power consumption will scale based on how heavy of a workload is being pushed onto the unit.

I'm talking about turning on the discrete graphics when I'm gaming and using the APU graphics when I'm just browsing
