Thats an awesome underclock.  Have you tried overclocking it yet?  It probably clocks like a dream.

No. Reason 1 being the shitty PSU I'm using. Reason 2 being that I don't have a decent enough cooler.

The stock cooler is plenty for a G3258!  You can easily push 1.3v and still be well under 85C during load.  Its just a dual core chip, it doesn't produce that much heat. Your PSU is also sufficient for overclocking.  Go ahead and let loose man!  I want to see how good of an OC you can get with that bad boy.  I'm guessing you will get 4.6Ghz @ 1.2v

Oh no. This temporary one is crap. Besides the 24-pin connector and a single CPU power connector, it has 4 SATA connectors.

Are you talking about something other than the EVGA SuperNOVA 650W?  Is it the G1?  B2?  What model?  Or is it something different entirely?

Can't remember. But it's the one that's fully modular, if that helps.

What are your temperatures on stock settings in IBT?

He's not referring to the 'turbo voltage' setting but the new turbo system that modern cpus use. The new system is better but not for 'synthetic BS' like Prime95.

Turbo voltage? Must be Adaptive/Offset then, prime95 only overvolts with Adaptive mode.

I believe thats the G1. That PSU is more than enough to overclock with, I wouldn't be worried at all. I used to overclock my i5-4670k and GTX780 off of a CX600M without issue, the G1 while not as good as a G2 is much better than a CX and the components you are using demand much less power. Overclock with confidence.

When I get my hands on it today I'll do stuff to it, maybe. Trying to keep it's temps down, since I will have a 480 in there as well as a 7950.

Well, um... @Faceman... I think I have a good chip. Haven't tried going down farther.

The fan on the heatsink never really comes out of "idle" state.
