How to choose CPU and Video card?

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

Hell no, the 8350 if the highest end amd cpu other than the 9590...which is just a mega overclocked 8350 lol. Basically an 8350 will slow your games down a bit more in most situations over using an i5 because the lack of threads needed in most games but newer games actually use more threads, and older games don't need as much graphics horsepower anyway. So older games your cpu might hold you back but as time goes on and the 8350 gets older, it's actually getting better. It's weird.

The 8350 isn't getting better....Even newer games, which benefit from more threads, still prefer higher IPC

oh my god. no quadcore that current from amd/intel will not bottleneck unless it's am1(very very low end)

It depends on the game.

And the 8350 does certainly have lower minimums than an i5 would, and those minimums add a noticeable amount of stutter and do negatively affect gaming performance quite a bit.

Hello guys! Its me again :S .. soo i know that i5 outrun fx-8350.. but i've heard that both cpu's run games at such FPS that it doesnt matter that much which one you'll choose.

So im planning to buy fx 8350 and this way spend more money on GPU.(pl0x tell me your opinion is it the right choice or should i go for i5 and buy cheaper GPU).

Aside from that.. what GPU will you buy for fx8350 if you think its worth it buying this one?

Edit: don't even think about i7 =D i can't afford it T_T

Whats your budget?

Anyway, I'd still go with an i5-4460 and put the rest towards a gpu.

While average framerates might be similar between the two, minimums tend to be lower and more frequent on the 8350. (framerate drops are just as important if not more important than averages as they add noticeable stutter). Plus, a 4460 is only a bit more expensive than an 8320 once you get a cooler and high end board to support the 8350.

I actually found an r9 290 for around $175,but some ppl told me that fx8350 will bottleneck that card..

An i5-4460 + mobo will be virtually the same cost as an 8350+cooler+mobo.

just get a i5 and the best card you can get depending on your budget so a i5 4460 and a amd 290 is a nice combo.

There's something fishy about that total...

Skyrim, Arma 3, any MMO, any game that uses less less than 4 cores (which are still very common). And while an 8350 might have similar average framerates it's minimums are worse, which is a big problem.

Theres a $45 combo discount on the cpu+mobo (which is probably not applicable for his region putting an 8320 and 4460 at virtually the same price--unless Intel has some stupid premium for him)
