Looking for a software to backup my computer and would like ideas. Would like to know which programs are good, and basic differences. I have tried CloudBacko, but am looking to see what else is available. Are snapshots a good idea? I don't really know much about them or if they are better that just copying the files to another hard drive. What do you think?
Any Suggestion?

Thanks In Advance

I'm currently using genie backup manager 8 from geniesoft to backup to my lacie nas - it was the software that was included (new version is genie backup manager 9 from genie9... original! lol)

I really like it - it sends (optional) email notifications of complete backups or if there was an error. I have 3 different backups scheduled (a full c: drive once a month - incremental once a week and a storage drive with work files incremental once a day)

They do have a cloud backup service that is free to try - but I'm not into that so I don't know what its like. I wouldhave have tried gbm8 if it didnt come with the nas - before I got the nas I used windows backup to an external usb 3 drive.

I would recommend the software - gbm8 - I assume gbm9 is better than 8. I will eventually buy the newer version (gbm9) but holding off as I am sort of hoping that windows 10 will have an apple timemachine-like backup feature included with it - windows backup in 8.1 isnt great. Its alright but very, very limited functionality. (you can either let windows decide what to backup - ha! - or choose what folders get backed up and set a schedule, but as far as I've seen thats it).

I always guarantee that no more than 50% of what I say is useful.

  • 3 weeks later...

You can continue with CloudBacko Software for backup plan to your data. Because, currently i am using CloudBacko software and the results are very good. Last month every data in my system got deleted, but thanks to Cloudbacko software i am able to restore my data again. So CloudBacko software gives us full security and protection to our data.
