I have this sound system for 3+ years, it n recent months its hissing has gradually augmented.

 

The usb headset also hisses.

 

when the computer is colsed it hisses significantly more. When computer is open, not so much.

Amp is not on high volume to increase distortions.

Playing sounds increases the hissing.

The hissing is a smoothened mid range frequency.

 

That added hissing is just undesirable, otherwise it works fine.

99% of the hissing origin is the computer back sound output (where the cable is in) on the mobo.

I run a crappy cable extension.

 

moving cables around changes the sound (rotate or how it goes in)

Sounds like a worn wire/cable to me...

 

It's too young for capacitor aging to come into play imo...

i agree with hermit, bad wires tends to lead to hissing static kinda noises.
