After hearing about some coil whine issues with the 970, I was wondering if the sound absorbing foam in my Define R4 would be sufficient in drowning out the whining noise. If any of you have dealt with this kind of scenario before, please post it below.

all cards have coil whine its just if your lucky or not and if you get a card from someone with good customer service and you card has coil whine you can just rma and get a new one with out coil whine

I have tested probably about 20 graphics cards in the last 6 months, from both sides, and all within the same case (Corsair 650D).

Honestly, all 3 of the GTX970's I have tested have had 'above normal' amounts of coil whine, as previously said, every card has atleast a tiny bit of coil whine, sometimes it is quite hard to hear though.

It is also dependant on the specific card you get, but so far it seems that the 970's have more coil whine than most cards I have tested, not sure why that is though.

I wouldnt worry about it though, they only do it when you are in demanding games and you can just turn up your speaker or headphone volume to drown it out, then you cant hear it at all.

Hope this answers your question :)

Edit: just checked, tested 25 in the last 6 months lol
