Hi everyone!

I want to build a system for photo editing (Photoshop & Lightroom), heavy multitasking, and occasional gaming that uses the latest DDR4 memory. The reason why I want to go for a DDR4-based PC is because I plan to use it for the next 5-6 years. Problem is, DDR4 is relatively new and it's expensive. I was wondering if anyone here has a build that's near the $2000 mark and is DDR4 ready?

I'm thinking of purchasing parts in February/March of 2015, but I just want to know what's available now so I can start saving up, even if prices change in these couple of months.

I prefer Intel-based processors, and I've had good experiences with nVidia video cards. I need two monitors, at least 23 in. each, but if you can convince me to get a single one I'll still check it out. I have every other peripheral (mouse, keyboard, speakers, optical drive, copy of Windows). I'd also like a Wi-Fi module (built-in to motherboard preferably) since my router is inaccessible.

Thanks!

For 2k, we can get DDR4 but you might end up using only a $250 GPU like the R9 280x or GTX 770

Why are you insisting on getting DDR4 and wasting your money on it? Nothing wrong with DDR3.

Because I think motherboards in the future will only support DDR4, but I don't know for sure. If I were to move from DDR3 to DDR4 when DDR4 is significantly cheaper than it is now, what components would I have to change?

This would leave you some room for a couple of Monitors (No idea on them) if your budget is $2300. A couple of IPS/PLS Monitors would probably suit you better for this type of build.

If you don't plan on running a 2nd graphics card then swap the psu for a 550W (Seasonic G, XFX XTR or Rosewill Capstone M)

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor  ($378.96 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Nepton 280L 122.5 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($119.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X99-UD5 WIFI EATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard  ($282.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Crucial MX100 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card  ($348.99 @ NCIX US)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case  ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1770.88
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Thank you so much!! I like that you went below my budget but still left enough to spend on monitors   :)

Does anyone have recommendations on what monitors I should get?
