So eventually I'm thinking about building a dedicated server PC to host my Minecraft and other game servers. So yeah, it's not that demanding but I want it to be fast. I don't really have a budget because I want it to be fast with 16 GB of RAM. I'm not sure about AMD or Intel for a server but you guys might know what I will benefit more from. I don't need any peripherals whatsoever.

I've built gaming PCs but never a PC to run my game servers. I obviously don't need a GPU for this PC so the CPU must have integrated graphics.

Thanks! :)

Hey bro as a former server owner do not home host unless you have fiber. Unless ofc its like 3-5 people then nvm, but if its greater then that rent a dedicated server. I recommend sys, kimsufi, or reliable site.

I touched the face of death, 4770K at 5.2 with 1.6

If you want you can surf around eBay, and find a nice server, I got an HP DL360 G5 with 2x Dual Core Xeon 5130s, 4x 146gb hard drives raid, redundant PSUs. Sometimes you can find them for really cheap I got that one for $150 with shipping.

Gaming Rig - Excalibur - CPU: i5 6600k @ 4.1GHz, CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo, Mobo: MSI Gaming M3 RAM: 16GB Corsair @2400MHz, GPU: EVGA 1060, Case: NZXT Phantom Full Tower (Red)

My Virtualization Server - Dell R710: 2x X5570s @ 2.93GHz with 32GB DDR3 RAM [Web Server, OSX, Plex, Reverse Proxy]

I love computers, gaming, coding, and photography! Be sure to quote me so I can respond to your post!

I have fast internet on a good day it can be 100 download and 10 upload, it's just basic game server hosting. I currently do it with my gaming PC but it kind of hogs my RAM and CPU power.

I don't know, I really want to custom build it.

For minecraft server you shouldn't go above i3 or fx-6300, at least 4 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended), Integrated gpu is ok or if cpu doesn't support it use some cheap one.

Really you don't need anything stronger.

Bullshit, for a small server maybe, For a 50-100 player server I had a 4770K at 4.0 and 32GB of ram. Minecraft is heavy cpu threaded.

Don't say bullshit because its ok for server. Its op's fault that he didnt mentioned how many players he wants.

for 100000 players even config that you mentioned wont help so shut up.

Have you run a large server before? I have, have you tried home hosting I have, Have you spent about 1k on servers alone I have. Granted I haven't toyed with 1.8 much since I sold my server but yeah I know nothing about minecraft and servers.

He didn't, but spending 500 or so for 10 people is beyond fucking stupid. Get a 16gb server for 40 dollars a month with a i5 / xeon if you need 16gb if not a 4gb vps for 20 dollars a month could handle 30-60 players if its got a good processor.

That isn't excuse to call my words bullshit. If he needs server up to 15-20 people config I gave him will do a job.
