Firstly, Corsair link says my h100i pump is running at 2245, but I can't really hear the pump. Does that mean that the pump is working?

Secondly, Corsair link says my h100i temp is 30 degrees but my cpu is 40 degrees when idle (ambient temperature 26) , my cpu is 4790k and I don't overclock, (I also reinstalled my h100i and replaced it with noctua thermal paste). Is this normal? I've been reading reviews and people are getting below 30 degrees when idle.

Please help.

If the pump wasn't working, then at idle (and load) temps would constantly be increasing.

The liquid (h100i temp) should be cooler than your cpu.

As for your temps being normal, it's highly dependant on the chip more than anything else. Some chips just run hotter than others.

I had almost the same thing as you, I had my H100i's pump fail (you can tell as the light goes off on the block when it isn't running) and then tried reinstalling with Noctua thermal paste, eventually the H100i leaked and I went through Corsair's stellar RMA system.

Idle temperatures aren't as telling as load temperatures.  What temps are you getting under load?

What program should I use to test it under load? I was just playing dota 2 and I get around mid 60

Thats way too high for a game like DOTA2.

Chances are you have a mounting problem.  Very common with H100is.  Your cooler isn't making proper contact with the CPU.  Here are some links that should be able to help you.  You will have to do the washer mod.

  1. the speed of the pump is 2200-2400 rpm, so yes your pump is operating/working.
  2. the H100i temp is the actual coolant temperature not the device temperature. coolant temp will always be lower than device temperature. only when the coolant temperature is 45-50° is when  you should start to worry. high ambient temperatures, slow pump speed and fan speeds can attribute to higher coolant temperatures. the device temps will also soar.
  3. idle temperature should include your ambient temperature. if your ambient is 28° your CPU will not idle at 30° or lower. usually 5-8° above ambient is normal. will depend on voltage if overclocking. stock wise, 5-8° above ambient is fine.

What's a good program to measure my cpu and gpu temperature?

I have the 4790k overclocked to 4.8 GHz using a H80i.  There were many times I had to reseat the stupid cpu cooler because I would run tests and I thought it was high.  I then got pissed off one day and tightened the hell out of the thumb screws using a screw driver.  Now I am getting consistent temperatures and not fluctuating like they were before.  Wish I knew about the washer mod but the ASUS Z97 Deluxe motherboard seems pretty thick.  Don't feel like undoing everything just to put in a rubber washer now that it is fine the way it is.  Do not know if this is normal but I am hitting an average of 60c playing Battlefield 4.  I figure, if it is not hitting 80c, then it should be fine since TJ max is 100c

I have a potato!
