Hi guys, here are a few snaps of my new build.

I've salvaged the Blu-ray drive, HDD, GFX card and PSU from my old pc which was an Acer board that I put in a Cooler master CM690 II case. I'll upload a photo of the inside of that case as a comparison.

Current spec:

Phantom 820 case

Intel 3770k CPU (stock speed atm)

Corsair H100i with quiet edition SP fans

Corsair platinum dominator RAM 1866 8GB

240GB Intel 520 SSD

640GB WD blue HDD

Sapphire 6790 GFX card

Antec Truepower 750w PSU

I'm intending on swapping out the PSU for a corsair AX860i, I'll add a few WD Black drives and either a 770 or a 780 GFX card. I've also given thought to a dedicated sound card but I'm still undecided

I don't think it's too bad for only my second and a half build (the Acer upgrade was mostly done by a friend showing me the ropes)

Here you can see the mess that was my old rig. It served me well for about 5 or 6 years

The beginnings of my new build. I ran into a problem with the 24 pin power connector, once I ran it up the back of the case it was too short so I'm using a cheap extension cable as a stopgap until I can afford to fix the problem.

Day shot of the PC, not long after I first turned it on. This was a joyous moment as I was sure I was going to mess it up.

Night shot with everything on. It won't be run like this most of the time but it's nice to do every now and then. I apologise for the poor quality but that's what happens with low light shots and phones.

I hope you guys like it, and any improvements you can suggest I'll be glad to hear them.

Thanks to Linus, Slick and all you guys for giving me the knowledge and confidence to do this. I appreciate it.

If I were a bird, I'd fly into a ceiling fan.

Nice looking rig !

Although the green LEDs on your table would drive me insane :D

Yeah I'd agree but I don't use them all the time. It's actually an RGB lighting strip so I often have it just as white light for room illumination. I'm glad you like it  :D

It's not often used but I really loved the style of the case. I was originally going to use a CM Cosmos 2 but the Phantom beat it in the end.

I agree it is just awesome case and i use it too,but only thing i dislike about it is size.

And awesome build, what are these light strips on your table?

I sort of like the size, I'm not a small guy so I feel it suits me well. The build was so easy because of the size, I'd previously built a small pc for my mum using an Antec one S case and it was a horrible experience. The light strips are RGB LEDs with a remote control so I can cycle through whatever colour I choose, quite handy for lighting my room. They are also dimmable so it doesn't always have to be so bright.

If I were a bird, I'd fly into a ceiling fan.

I gave some thought to white as I have a white wall, a white phone and a white Xbox but the black just looks domineering

you could put the led strips on the back of the monitor so they would have a bit of a nicer glow. but overall it looks like a great build. :D

sadly they're a metre long each and not flexible enough to go on the back of my monitor but I like the idea.

I guess it is ok but you need to work on your cable management so badly.

The contrast of the before and after really did it for me. Good for you!

every time I opened the old one I shuddered at how bad it was. I often thought of redoing it but I knew I'd eventually just build a new one and try to get it right first time.
