hello, ive had my new PC for quite some time now, and it has a GTX 770 graphic card in it, but it also has a intel hd 4600, and i want to use it.

i know that im plugged into a wall, and everything, but i still have a use for it, for example for compatibility problems, which i seem to have in a lot of old 3D games that just does not work with my main graphic card.

ive seen a lot of laptops that have two graphic cards been able to right click on any application, and then been able to choose if you want to run it off the secondary graphic card, or even set it as a default option in the nvidia control panel.

ive tried to install the intel hd 4600 drivers, but the installer cant find the graphic card, so it just does not work, can anyone help?

If you want to use the onboard graphics, then you'll need to connect your monitor directly to your motherboard; and make sure integrated graphics is enabled in the bios.

So, on a laptop as both are connected to the same monitor you can just switch between them. However, on a desktop, you'll have to switch the input on your monitor and force the program to use a certain gpu.

can i have my normal monitor cable going into the GPU (dont remember what its called right now :P) and my VGA cable going from the motherbord into the monitor at the same time?

because if i have to switch the cables around all the time, its not worth it

Yes, you can. (assuming your monitor can accept and switch between multiple inputs -- which any decent monitor can).

sweet, but there is one ultimate question, can i switch between outputs while i game, to make a lag comparison or something without the game crashing?

You mean you want to be playing a game with your gpu, and then switch inputs and use your iGPU? If so, that shouldn't be an issue -- although if you do anything intensive on the iGPU then it will slow down the GPU as you will be splitting the CPU power between the two (like any multi-monitor set up).

im using a single monitor, so it will not matter if the GPS gets less power while its not used

i think i maybe found it, in screen resolution settings, you can choose "show desktop only on 1" on the second virutal display

but now the IGPU seems to have taken suicide :/

ok, ive come to a Conclusion.

i have to have both of the two virutual seperate windows desktops running at the same time, in order to even get both graphic cards running at the same time.

so, if i for example disable the DVI virutal desktop, the main graphic card even be used untill i re-enable the DVI virutal desktop session.

so if i wanted to, for example run a game with the IGPU, i would have to drag the shortcut over to the second virutal display, and then switch the monitor to the DVI channel, and then double click the icon.

i wanted a system like laptops have, where you just have to rightclick any icon, and then just press "run with integrated graphic card".

even if i had two monitors, ive would have prefered to have them both hooked up the the main graphic card, because of the improved DVI quality, and been able to run applications with the main GPU much faster, so i dont really see a reson to do this, if there isnt a way to do it like laptops do, which is sad :/

also the task bar is gone on the second desktop, which makes it extremly hard to use at times, because i only have one monitor
