My grandfather needs a small upgrade for his computer, he doesn't have a graphics card and needs either some more ddr2 ram and an ssd for around 210 AUD, or a whole new setup (thinking about pentium anniversary edition, Asus H81M-A motherboard, and kingston 2x8gb ddr3 memory+the ssd, I can build this for around 370 AUD) running windows 7. I have an old XFX geforce 6200 card lying around, what is the compatibility for old cards in new pcie slots? I thought new slots (PCIe 3.0) enabled the use of older cards am I wrong here, does anyone else have any suggestions for a very affordable rig setup that might help performance, he mainly uses it for watching and burning movies and music, skype chat with relatives from overseas and playing some flash games. The current system has 2GB of ddr2 ram and a HDD that is failing (8gb of ram is quite a bit for the way he uses it but its only 20 bucks dearer than 4gb of ram so might as well)

CPU: Intel i7 3820 @ 4.37Ghz | RAM: Kingston Hyper X 16Gb | Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 | GPU: MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr ii edition | Storage: 2 x Samsung Evo 840 500GB (Raid 0) | PSU: Corsair RM-850 | Case: Corsair 750D | Cooler: Corsair H110 | OS: Win7 | Monitor: Sony 40" TV | Mouse: Corsair M65 | Keyboard: Logitech G710+ | Audio: Harman/Kardon

I think the iGPU on the pentiumK (If it has one) might be better then that card anyways xD

It might even be PCI (no e). Which means it would be incompatible AFAIK.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Yes the PCI 1 ver. will work in a newer PCI 2 or 3 slot, though you will only get the PCI 1 speeds on the card. (PCI is backwards compatible)

You need to make it clear you're talking about PCIe. PCIe and PCI are two different standards. PCIe and PCI are NOT compatible with each other at all.
