My Core 2 Quad Q8400 isn't stable on it's default clock which is 2.66 Ghz.But when i down-clock it to 2.40 Ghz it becomes stable,but why????

Specifications:
Core 2 Quad Q8400
Biostar G41D3+
Sapphire R7 250X 1GB DDR5
4 GB DDR3 RAM
WD Cavier Blue 500 GB and HITACHI 80+80 GB
Corsair VS450
Asus DVD ROM/RW
12V Fans(Including CPU Fan) X9 (Didn't include PSU and GPU fans)

Are you running the latest BIOS? and what are you running the chip on stock voltage?

hm....my bios is upto date....and i am running at default voltage.....but i tried to increase voltage by 5% for default 2.66 Ghz....but after some moment my PC stopped....
