Sennheiser HD518?

I'm looking for my first set of decent headphones, I've been looking around for some time and I wanted to know what your thoughts are on the Sennheiser HD518's.

I currently use a Logitech G35 headset for gaming but I want some headphones to use when I'm out :)

those are open, so they will leak sound and provide no isolation when you are out.

look into anything from shure, audio technica a 700's and m50's, and beyerdynamic 770's.

I use the HD 518's, and while I don't consider myself an audiophile, these are some of the best headphones I've ever used. Even though they're open I have found that they don't leak sound anywhere near as much as most other open headphones; I can have mine at near full volume and not hear them when they're a foot or two away from my face. My question to anyone more knowledgeable is would I see significant benefit from implementing either an sound card or headphone amplifier to my system? (keep in mind that I only use the HD518's at my pc).

It's hard to tell if you will notice a difference. It would take a lot for me to Get rid of my m^3 amp, both for the sound and how much work I have in it.

For entry into amps I'd look into the fiio e11 or a diy cmoy from jdslabs.

style comfort music played games played neutral or colored sound. as it stands it is kind of like saying what food is good to eat? in that context of food the ath m50 is pizza. everybody loves pizza and pizza is popular it is why a lot of people recommend the m50. but is pizza what you want right now? is it what you want to eat every day? tell us more so we can help you better, help us help you

amps cmoy vs E11.

I chose e11 because it is rechargeable via USB. USB charging is part of my daily routine, get home plug in my phone plug in my e11 plug in my laptop. the cmoy is cheaper and might possibly deliver better sound but the 9 volt thing is what made me look elsewhere.
