Guest Kloaked

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Maybe you math wizards can help because mymathlab doesn't care.

I got $7062.72212049 (Rounded: 7062.72) but here is what i did:

8000=P(1+0.025/4)^20

How I got 4: compounded quaterly so 4 times per year

20: 4times*5years=20

EDIT: 0.025: 2.5%/100 (to get decimal)= 0.025

solve for P by calculating (1+0.025/4)^20 and 8000/Answer you got after calculating  (1+0.025/4)^20

plug and chug, it's really easy

A  = 8000(1+0.025/4)^(4 x 5)

8000 is what you start off with

2.5% == 0.025 is the rate and it is compounded quarterly, so you divide by 4

raised to the time which is quarterly so 4, times 5 years

don't have a calculator on me, but plug this in and you will get answer

EDIT (yeah, it's not raised to 12 x 5, it's raised to 4 x 5)

7062.72 is what i got.

8000/(1+0.025/4)^(4* 5)  = P

I got $7062.72212049 (maybe wrong) but here is what i did:

8000=P(1+0.025/4)^20

How I got 4: compounded quaterly so 4 times per year

20: 4times*5years=20

Me too, I got the same result: 7062.72.

Edit: I need to practice my maths cuz on Wednesday and Thursday i have math exams, the first one (wed) is without calculator and the second one (thu) is with calculator. @OP if you have some trouble with your maths i will happily help you :D

This works. Thank you so much. I had no idea what I was doing wrong.

I was literally sitting here punching my desk because I had no fucking clue what I was doing wrong.

I got 7062.72.

P = ?
r = 0.025
t = 5
n = 4

8000 / (1 + (0.025 / 4)) ^ (4 * 5)

(10th grade)

Even though math can be hard sometimes, try to ask questions (to the instructor or the forum :D) for stuff you don't get as these calculations and most concepts come up over and over in math. Best of luck in completing the rest of the course! :)
