Bypass non-uplay preload ?

LapX

Hello fellow assassins,

I am reading everywhere that uplay doesn't offer pre-loading games, so I was wondering if I could download the skidrow files and maybe uplay would use those as a base and download the  day one patche when it releases.

I bought the game but it sucks that I can't play at midnight but those who pirated just have to wait for the crack.

Any thoughts ? Is that possible ? Or maybe I can start playing the cracked version and transition my save files to the legit one later ?

Thanks !

"playing the cracked version" is never a legitimate option.

Uplay isn't a useful tool, unfortunately, it's what Ubisoft is shoving down our throats.

Just wait until you can download it, and play it once you can. Consider not picking up Ubisoft titles if it bothers you that much.

I bought the game, so I consider myself able to play it however I want, whenever I want and with any version I want.

Anyway, the download is too slow and apparently their crack isn't even working so I guess I'm going to have to play the wait game until then :(

I don't know Canadian laws, however I do know that Stateside, even if you've purchased the game legitimately, downloading, playing, using, or otherwise distributing a cracked copy is still within the realm of illegal. This is why some emulators are considered iffy.. same goes for music. Your own personal laws may not adhere to this, however, you're governed by laws you don't make.

Yeah maybe, but I always thought this. It's not like they arrest people who do this anyway, only the big distributors are being attacked. I also see a lot of people playing on emulators that say it's ok because they own the game and it was just easier to record.

It's much more of a do you want to support the developpers game for me, and I feel like they made decent work on this one to merrit my money. I didn't play revelations, ac3 and black flag because I felt it wasn't in my alley, they had removed stuff that I liked like buying new armor, even if they were always linear upgrades.

What you do is your own prerogative. Personally, i'm not willing to take that risk for a few hours of earlier gameplay. Suppose you do get caught, what does that do to you? our career? your life? Stateside, piracy can and does reach into the constraints of a felony. That makes life a lot harder on you.

I never said that emulators are illegal, it's just that some of them are within the questionable realm.

I consider the use of uplay and their DRM as part of the development factor. so long as Ubisoft continues to do the things that they do, i'm not going to support them, and as a result, neither will I support their developers.

assuming you don't have an absolutely horrible internet connection, will the game really be cracked faster than it will take to download it?

Crack is already out. It doesn't take much time for them to do it on any game or application.

But apparently the crack doesn't work so I'm not going to bother.

From what I've heard, you just get emails from someone warning you. I don't want to start a debate :P

What you've heard, and what may, can, and does happen are two different things, however. I'm sure everyone who's been caught and seen impacts from it thought the same thing.

Like I said, what you do is your own prerogative. None of this is up for debate.

You're going to do what you're going to do, the law is going to do what it's going to do.

Are you aware of any case where somebody got arrested for downloading a few things illegally ? (not talking about very illegal things like child porn)

The only case I am aware of is an old dude who used to copy VHS and DVD's and sell them at a garage sale.

That depends. For some games/publishers, the "purchase" is for the CD key. If you have a valid key, it doesn't matter where the software came from. But if the publisher considers the software files themselves to be the purchased goods, then they can take action against it.

You wouldn't be arrested. This is an issue of copyright infringement, which is between you and the copyright holder. In the US, at least, this is usually a civil matter, where the company is able to take legal action against you, but obviously they can't just have you thrown in jail. In most of the cases I have heard of, the company sent cease & desist letters to the person, and sometimes demanded a sum of money to keep the matter out of the courts.

My advice is to not try this. Not because you're likely to get caught or anything, but because I would be utterly shocked if it worked.

Actually, I do. It was someone that I went to elementary school with. When the crackdown on Kazza (or Kazzaw or whatever it was) happened, several record labels took action against him.

He accumulated enough counts of piracy to far surpass the level of a felony.
