You updated the bios?

yes. but it worked out of the box without the need for a other cpu.

Yes, but it doesn't make sense to buy a high end H97 motherboard, because it ends up being more expensive than a Z97 motherboard, or you can spend just a few dollars more and get an excellent Z97 motherboard that is upgrade-ready for an unlocked i5/i7, high speed RAM(not that important) and multi-GPU setups.

 

ASRock Z97 Anniversary - $75 - No SLI/Xfire

 

Asus Z97-E - $100 - SLI and Xfire Capable, also excellent included software, especially Fan Xpert

 

Gigabyte Z97X-SLI - $109 - SLI and Xfire Capable, fancy aesthetics.

Yea, sadly no cheap Red/black z97 board for about 100 like the blue z97 anniversary ones

Gigabyte Z97X is red/black for $109.  The ASRock Z97 Fatality Killer is also often on sale for $102.

Thats fine, I have Prime too, but it doesn't make sense to limit all of your purchases to just Amazon.  Newegg.com and NCIX often have free shipping.
