Hi guys, I want to build my first gaming rig, mainly for games like Battlefield and a bit of CoD. I'm thinking of putting an intel core i7-4790k in there along with 1 or 2 (depending on economy) asus geforce GTX 970 strix, or 1 or 2 MSI geforce GTX 970. I'm all new with this and therefore afraid of ruining the computer with overclocking. Will the CPU bottleneck the GPU?

Btw, if you need other information about the rig to tell if it will be bottlenecked, it will be with 16 gbs of RAM on the GIGABYTE G1.Sniper 5 motherboard with a 850 watts powersupply.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Case: Antec Twelve Hundred V3 | Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VII Hero | CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k @ 4.4GHz | RAM: G. Skill RipjawsX DDR3-2133 MHz C9 QC - 16GB | GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 980 G1 Gaming | PSU: Corsair AX860 | SSD: 2x Samsung 840 EVO SSD's in RAID 0

Error 404: Bottleneck not found.

Hell just get an I5-4690k and OC that to 4.2/4.3 and you will find no bottleneck whatsoever. Probably no bottleneck on a stock 4690k

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

4690K is enough for 980 and I dont know but probably also for 980 SLi. Umm... You don't really need a 850w PSU, you can go with 550-600w for single gpu and 750w for dual GPUs.

There is always a bottleneck but in your case you won't see the bottleneck.

p.s. that CPU  won't have any performance issues with that graphics cards.

The Asus UX305 has an Almighty Intel core M-5Y10 0.8GHZ, GPU Intel HD 5300 Windforce, SDD 120GB, Passively Cooled, 1920x1080 Matte Screen, An Fantastic ICEpower Audio Making my House Shake and Having more ports then a MacBook btw this not an advertisement.

I'll tell you for sure that a i7-4790K will bottleneck you with 970 SLI... in just about 2 games on the planet. The other few thousand? Not even close. In short, don't worry about it. If you ever run into a bottleneck, then feel free to OC. That's what a K CPU is for right? =D.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday
