Diffrent GPU's in rendering

Is it possible to use more than one GPU when im rendering if they are diffrent and arent in SLI. Im asking this because I might be getting a GTX 670 and I want to be able to use my gtx 650 in tandem with it to render. Mainly After Effects and 3DS Max

I'm no expert, but i don't think so. I know a friend that uses a Quadro to render and has a 680 for gaming and such, but still the quadro is used to render alone, not helped by the 680 SO i guess, even if they are consumer grade GPUs they wont work together if theyre not in SLI.

They don't have to work together when it comes to rendering, if I'm not mistaken.  For example, Edzel has a Quadro and 2 Titan Black's in his rendering machine, and that works for him.

That won't work for AE. 3ds max does support multi Gpu rendering but I'm not sure about mixing Gpus.
