I have a H100i cooling a 4770k at 4.2GHZ @ 1.170V. The cooler was doing great keeping the CPU at a nice cool 65 degrees but now it's getting to about 75 degrees and I don't know why. I have reseated it about 3 times now and the same thing has been happening. It is cool at first bet then slowly starts to get hotter over time. I even turned down the clock to 4.0GHZ @ 1.140V and it still got to about 72 degrees. I talked to someone about it and they said that it could possibly be the CPU, but another person said that it's the cooler not doing a well enough job but I've only had this cooler about a month. I use Arctic MX-4 thermal paste. I'm not really sure what else to do, I don't really want to get a new cooler as they can be expensive. Someone any suggestions are a great help.

Your good than. 70s are good mate.

But he had lower temps before, with no obvious reasoning of why it changed drastically in such a short amount of time. The temps aren't really that amazing for an H100i anyways, considering I do around the same with mine on my 4790K @4.5GHz/1.2V

Ok, I really have no clue unless the pump is going out or it is not making full contact with CPU.

I've reseated it about 3 times though

The H100i is known to have mounting issues with the LGA115x series sockets. Does the cooler feel loose at all on the motherboard, or is it unmovable without unscrewing it? Did you properly clean the CPU and the waterblock using at least 70% isopropyl alcohol and a tissue that doesn't give off fibers, such as a coffee filter? It could be the thermal compound curing, but it's not entirely likely.

Never seen it make that big of a difference. I would say fans or mounting issue.

Though this is why I mention that it is not entirely likely.

I have seen it make a big difference though, but with my GPU. My GPU would seemingly load at 65, but then creep up to 75.

You seem smarter than me I think you can handle it from here xD. The truth hurts but I'll expect it.

I'm gonna look at a different cooler but thanks

No problem. I would suggest the NZXT Kraken X61, Noctua NH-D15 or Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3, that is if they will fit in your case.

Is it like... it'll be 65 for a while but rise up to 75 after an hour or two?

The water in a liquid cooler takes a while to heat up, so there'll be lower temps at first but they'll rise up slowly.

an h100i on a 4770K in a room that is roughly 24C can cool it to 52 under load (for 4 hours) and 35 idle.

Reseat the cooler, and make sure that the pump is working.

is the pump working? Have you plugged it into the USB header on your motherboard?
