Gtx 980 or 970?

Which one is better for the money? Which one is better for overclocking?

They are both good for the money. It just depends which you can afford.

 

Both are great overclockers.

980 will last longer and will pull away from the 970 as it get's more mature just like the 680 did to the 670.

 

Right now though the 970 is better for the money, but will not last as long as the 980 will performance wise, the 970 has quite a lot less shaders and fewer texture unit's.

Alright thanks for the feedback. I was going to get the 980 anyway but my friend told me the 970 was better for the money.

Go for 980 if you can, if not buy one 970 now and another one 970 later. It should keep up for 2 years. (Obvilusly it run won't run all games at ultra, but medium-high is good)

Well the 980 is of course better and has better overclocking but it would depend on your budget I would recommend a G1 980 form gigabyte but if you cant afford that then a G1 970 coms reasonably close to a reference 980 for its high clock speed.

970 for 1080p and 1440P.980 for 1440P and 4K.

An good overclocked 970 *can* reach an stock 980.

 

An 970 is really better for the money. They extra 250$ from the 970 to the 980 isn't really worth it. I got 2 980's anyway. Still love that card and the performance overclocked is beast.

Go for 980 as long as it DOESN'T mean sacrificing other parts of your build because of the added cost. Minimum budget for a 980=$1100 or £900
