Hey guys I have two questions about AMD GPU drivers.

First, do you run the full release or the beta versions as they come out? It seems like AMD really pushes the Beta drivers, and I have always installed them, but now I'm wondering if they may be contributing to some in game performance issues. How stable do you think these drivers are?

Second, when I installed the latest AMD drivers I un-checked the audio drivers that were in the package, but if I look in my device manager under system devices it lists 3 High Definition Audio Bus', one of which has an error and says cannot start. If I uninstall them my speakers, which are connected to my motherboard, don't function because of missing drivers. Any ideas?

With AMD drivers, the full release usually has issues, and the beta has even more. Which is why most people stick with 14.4 or 14.7

1. Most time i run full release drivers just because they are stable. They only time I use beta versions is when the beta drive tries to fix some big problem for me.

2. The AMD GPU driver for audio is for HDMI audio out put and true audio. If you want really fix the driver problem, just full uninstall the CCC and re-install it.

I use their latest Beta all the times since 2011. No card breaking experience yet.

Catalyst 14.9.2 is really solid for my system.

Whenever I download the drivers (just recently got 14.9.2 myself) I read the release notes and near the bottom there's a section on "Known Issues". If there's anything in there that affects your particular GPU\Game\whatever I'd wait until there's a fix or give it a go and hope it doesn't affect you. If it does you can always go back to a previous version.

The only time incorrectly is spelled incorrectly is when it is spelled incorrectly.

I only switched from Nvidia to AMD earlier this year and since then I use the latest beta drivers, and don't have many issues.

What games do you have performance issues with?

Battlefield 4 in particular. I was running 14.9 and then the fall patch and beta driver 14.9.1 came out around the same time so I installed them both and then started crashing every 10 minutes. I installed 14.9.2 and then I wasn't even able to get into a server without the game crashing. I rolled back to 14.9 last night but I can still only play a few minutes before the game crashes, which is really frustrating because 14.9 was working fine with BF4 before the fall patch. I was over 90 FPS on ultra settings.

Shadow Of Mordor has some pretty serious menu text flickering that neither 14.9.1 or 14.9.2 fixed. In game is OK but I did have a couple of crashes to desktop after about an hour of gameplay with 14.9.1
