Hey guys,

I'm planning to get a 980 a new case and watercool my rig but I'm really torn on what to buy first... I already have some WC parts that are lying in the box my CPU and Mobo came in, waiting to be used. I decided to go with a 900D and GTX 980... But I can only buy one of these 2 pieces of hardware this year and one march-april next year and I dont know which one to go for... If I get the 900D, Corsair may announce a 1000D at CES, if I get a 980, by the time I get the 900D and watercool it, maybe they will come out with a 980ti or AMD with a 390x that will be better, or ever worse, nVidia releasing the 1000 series cards (or whatever it's gonna be called) with GM210 which will make the 980 a piece of outdated hardware by the time I put it under water. For the watercooling parts, that's no big deal, I can buy them in the meantime and I'm not worried about this, I am really torn on what to buy first because I do want to make myself a high end Christmas gift (900D or 980), so that's why I dont want to buy both next year. All the other key parts are purchased and wont change.

Thanks.

Well, if you can play games fine without a 980, then I'd rather go with a 900D since I could then build the loop and just add on the gpus. But if you can't play games at acceptable settings, then definitely a 980.

Although, I wouldn't get a 900D personally  :P

To be completely honest, what i'd do in this situation is drop down to a 970 and do both.

From your perspective of only doing one or the other, however, i'd go with the 900D as it's easier to replace a GPU than it is a case, assuming you'll have a functioning PC.

Instead of the 900D buy yourself an Enthoo Primo :) It is much better for watercooled setups.

In regards to the GPU, if you have one that works and if you can hold out a little longer then wait for the 980ti / r9 390X next year and buy yourself the case (enthoo primo) for christmas.

I personally would not go for the 900D. The airflow isn't very good.. I remember watching @JayzTwoCents project Skunkworks and he showed that most of his rads were not getting full coverage. I'd go for a GTX 980 first as I'd prefer having the better performance first.

But I myself, if I was in this situation, I'd be confused on which too. :(

I've seen jays videos, in fact he know me from twitter.

But his main problem was the fact thet the HDD cages were blocking the front fans, and he is 100% right, but a good idea would be to remove them completly and mount the HDD at the back of the 900D with double sided tape.

@djdwosk97 I currently have a 650Ti, it's a nice card but the 1GB 128Bit Memory holds everything back. Was decent on my old 720p, when I moved to 1080p TV... just no.
