Hey everyone!

I'm putting together some parts for my first build and would like some input. I would really prefer to not go above the price of the parts below unless it's for a significant upgrade.

The rig will be used mostly for gaming as well as some school-work (programming, nothing too CPU-intensive).

I plan on using the peripherals and monitor (1920x1080) I already have. I also have an SSD that I'm planning on transferring to the new rig.

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor  ($139.97 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard  ($72.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB DirectCU II  Video Card  ($239.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $731.87
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

What I'm most struggling to choose is GPU and case. I've been wavering back and forth between a 770, an R9 280 or an 29 280X. As far as the case goes I'm just going by recommendations I found by googling but I don't really have any idea if it's a good one.

Any input would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

can you afford to go for a 970? if you can, certainly try to get one, I think it will be a much better choice or possibly a R9 290

Yesterday the 290 by msi was like $220, but it went back up in price.

The cheapest 290 now is by powercolor, but I wouldn't really by a card from them...

At this price range the GTX770 is the best option. Your build is done pretty well.

Made some changes:

Better Mobo with sufficient VRMs, I like WD over seagate, and some cheaper RAM.

Sorry if the conversion rates to wherever you are, are not the same as your original build.

Thanks for the input, those parts were actually quite significantly more expensive here. :( Thanks for the tips though!

That sucks.

Only a dollar more expensive in the U.S.

When buying motherboards me sure to check on the VRM. It is very important when overclocking because it regulates the voltage to the cpu.
