I would look at waiting for some more badass, >1 core GPUs to come out with the maxwell architecture. Unfortunately, because of Nvidia's release schedule, this could be another year away.

I also would be concerned by the 4-way SLI. As you could see in Linus's video, SLI just don't scale very well so it's probably best avoided in 4-way, where 2-way is definitely the sweetspot. Maybe you could have a better gaming experience with fewer higher end cards.

You need 2x 980 for a single 4k monitor so for 3 you need 6x 980. Yeah just wait till Pascal.

Either 2 Titan Zs or 2 R9 295Xs could get closest to what you want, but probably neither of those can do triple 4k in games.

The best thing would be to get a triple 1440p setup with 2 or 3 GTX 980s

I once had one of these, now I've got this.

If you want smooth 4k gaming i would wait and see if NVIDIA release a GTX 980 ti and go 2 way sli or wait for GTX 1080 and 2 way or PASCEL

How can anyone know which one iz going to be better when none of them release anyting to us lol

4 titan black with 3x 4kscreen is only 50fps at most. Come back after 2 more gen for real triple 4k experience

Go for 4 way 980 sc edition or get a water-cooled version so you can over clock allot more

Hi guys, I am building a rig with three 4k screens. What gpu in 4 way sli should i choose to get around 40-60 fps in metro last light with settings to max? Should i wait for the gtx 980 ti or r9 390x because gtx 980 is not powerful enough?

NEVER go up to 3way or 4way sli/CF!!!

I think you should wait and see 390X and 980Ti. I think they may have the power to run 4k with single card.

If not, 2way SLI 980 should work.

PS: Metro  have really bad support for SLI or CFX.

Now triple 4k is near impossible right now so maybe dual titan z but it wont be great or a 4 way with 980s but thatll cause some really high temps (dont even try more than 2 titan Zs) Also new cards are coming out soon so wait untill then if you want 4K

I think you're a little ahead of your time. Even 3x 1440p is a pretty absurd resolution. Even if 4-way SLI or Crossfire was enough raw firepower for 24.8 megapixels, 4-way GPU configurations are poorly supported and often provide inconsistent gameplay experiences from one game to another. If you managed 40 FPS in one game, another might be completely unplayable.

I don't think triple 4K is going to be practical until you can get reliable framerates with, at most, a two-card configuration.
