Well Seeing I am selling my G1 GTX 970 today I ordered myself a new toy to play with the R9 290x lightning which arrived today as well.

However it seems I got the crappiest lightning ever made, darn thing crashes in valley as soon as the clocks tip over 1110 which is bloody awful, people get more on stock voltage.

I am currently trying to figure out what is wrong, but with the thing crashing all the time it is not easy, currently running a few more test logging my gpu-z results to file and see if I can find the reason.

Try turning on "LN2" mode on, I remember in one of Linus' videos where he reviewed it, he said he got better overclocking with that mode enabled.

Well done that and still not impressed.

1150 seems to be the max I can get and that needs +150 on the voltage.

I could have run a bench at 1190 maybe, but anything over 1150 showed artifacts and that to me is no good :)

Seems I need to look at getting her under water, but I feel little for spending close to 200 euros for block, plate and fittings.

Also seems my VRM 2 temperature sensor is broken it lists 87C constantly whether she been running benches for 10min or been idle or even just started up.
