Hey,

Planned out a build recently and was hoping to gather up suggestions in terms of cooling to the slightly OC'd GPU and CPU, and get a rating of the system in terms of performance for gaming as whole.

The build:

Digital Storm Apollo Chassis,

- Intel Core i7 4790K (OC'd to 4.5/4.8 GHz),

ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO (mobo),

16GB DDR3 2400MHz Corsair Vengeance Pro,

- 1050W Corsair HX1050 (PSU),

240GB Intel 730 Series SSDs (x2),

2TB Western Digital - Black Edition,

- 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB (Includes PhysX),

- Corsair H100i 240mm (CPU cooler),

Corsair Airflow Performance Chassis fans,

and that about it. Open to suggestions and let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Hehe. Well thanks GamerPro and Stroop  ;)

Thought it might be overkill. But yeah I was having hopes I'd change or add stuff to the build later on the years.

You could not come close to maxing out that psu no matter how much hardware was added to the basic build. PCPartPicker lists max draw of the OP at 514W. A 750W or 850W is more than sufficient. Go with the EVGA 220-G2-0850-XR.

I would suggest a single larger ssd. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-raid-benchmark,3485-13.html

Presumably the memory kit is 2x8GB.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
