R9 280?

So, I'm thinking of buying an R9 280, since it's in my 200$ budget, It's a good card right?

Also do you guys have any other sugestions on a 200$ gpu?

Its a great card, however you can wait for the 960 which is the same performance at the same price but runs quieter, has better drivers and a 100W TDP (Half of the 280). Supposed to be released in Q1 2015

You can get new 280s for $150 (if your in the US) and someone is selling a 280X in the classified section for $140 if your cool with buying used hardware/ in the US.

I did recently buy one and it's been doing me fine.

But if you're buying in jan, make your plans then. Prices can change or the mystical gtx 960 might come out soon by then.

Should have mention it's usually a MIRB, go on pcpartpicker and wait a few days for a MSI/Sapphire/Gigabyte card to go back down to $150 ($180 currently), there was a MSI on for $156 after MIRB yesterday.

Well then do it, it's perfect because the 960 comes out in January or at least sometime near that time.

I recently saw new MSI twin frozr 280s going for 159 US, which is possibly the best price to performance deal there is, as the twin frozr is a high quality cool running card that is factory OC'd I believe. The 280 would give you over 60fps in many modern games in 1080p on high settings. In BF4 you could probably get better than 60 FPS on ultra settings if you shut off the AA, especially if you OC'd the card. That's amazing for a 160 dollar card.

 

The r9 290 would be worth spending an extra 50 over your budget of 200 dollars, but it would be hard to pass up a quality 280 at 160 dollars.
