So here are my specs:

  • Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43
  • CPU: AMD FX-6300
  • Ram: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz
  • GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • Power Supply: Corsair CX600
  • HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
  • OS: Windows 7 Professional Edition
So about 3 days ago everything was running fine and I had no problems. The next day when I booted up my computer, it started up slower than usual. When I loaded up google chrome, it took about 20-30 seconds just to load up. I then test out a game to see how long it would take to load up. I choose to test NBA2k15 and it usually takes me roughly 30-40 seconds to get to the main menu, it took me close to 1 minute and 30 seconds to even get to the main menu. I ran some test to see if it was a hardware problem, but I got no errors. It can't be a virus because I re-installed windows and it was still being slow. If you need more details just let me know, I have no idea what is causing this and it is really annoying.
Also one thing to note is that my computer is always trying to load something, even when idle. I have no idea what it is trying to load.

UPDATE: Everything seems to be running smoothly for now, I still suspect it may be a hard drive issue though.

My Cooler Master: CPU: AMD FX-6300 @ 4.0Ghz (stock cooler) | GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7850 2GB @ 975Mhz | RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB @ 1600Mhz | HDD: 1TB WD Caviar Black | PSU: Corsair CX600 | Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 | OS: Windows 7 Professional | Mobo: MSI 970A-G43

Have a look in the Windows Task Manager to see which processes are working the hard drive a lot.

Also, go to Windows' defragment tool to see when it was last run; maybe it's running too often and while you're trying to use the computer. You could set it to run only at specific times.

Check CPU usage through window's Resource manager/Task manager(Performance tab), then check your hard drive usage from Resource manager by sorting by total under the disk tab.

If the top result is abnormally higher than the others then post the process here as well as do some research on your own.

Also, check control panel's Programs and Features and look at the newest installed things,by looking for things that you might not have installed or even installed with suspicions, try uninstalling them.

Unlikely, but you might want to check your network usage too, both chrome and NBA have to go online to load up fully.

To check your network usage go back into Resource Manager and open up the network tab, and again, look for abnormally high processes when sorting by total.

A few days ago there was a process from googledrivesynch.exe, or something like that, it put everything that used the internet to a halt, so if you see that then go ahead and end the process.

wipe your temp folders, run ccleaner, open msconfig and get rid of everything in startup.

Snip

This has HARD DRIVE ISSUES written all over it. Defragment it, clean out random crap, viruses etc. Open Task Manger to see what's pinning your HDD activity.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your issue with your computer running slow. :(

I'd suggest to test your WD Black for problems with the Data LifeGuard Diagnostics tool.

It will test the drive for errors and repair sectors.

However, I'd still do what was already suggested and clean your redundant files and defrag the drive.

Hope this helps you though!

I hope I can help with any storage issues that you may have!  ;)
